Test equipment you can trust when failure isn’t an option.

Bespoke automated test equipment, control systems and electronic hardware for safety-critical aerospace, defence, oil & gas and automotive programmes.

Precision test equipment for safety-critical industries

When your testing programme must work first time, every time, you need a team that owns every stage of it.

Red Earth Systems designs and builds bespoke automated test equipment, control systems and electronic hardware for safety-critical applications. Our engineers cover system design, PCB and electronics design, software development, mechanical build, and full site and factory acceptance testing, all under one roof. Nothing gets handed off to a third party, and nothing gets lost along the way.

Aerospace has been our core market for two decades, where we’ve earned our reputation for precision and reliability. The rigour we apply there, from traceability and documentation to certification, carries across naturally into automotive, defence and oil and gas, where the same standards are now expected.

We aim to deliver a bespoke solution built around the exact software and hardware infrastructure your programme needs.

What we do

From PCB and embedded software to precision mechanical builds, we design and manufacture bespoke test equipment for complex applications with zero margin for error. Every project draws on our specialist skills across four core disciplines, working together from first concept through to a proven, working solution on the line.

Automated test equipment, built around your needs

We can design and build a full range of automated test equipment (ATE), from standard test racks to highly flexible, modular platforms. It shortens your time to market, without compromising on quality or performance.

Every rig comes with a control system that manages safety, start-up and shutdown, with a standard side-plate layout for electrical items so you’re never starting from scratch. We also cater for non-standard rack configurations, so unusual layouts are never a barrier.

Built using standard COTS hardware, you get a software platform that we can configure to your exact requirements. If your project calls for something entirely bespoke, our software test systems are built from the ground up around your specification. Either way, you get equipment that works the way your team needs it to, from day one.

Why clients choose us

We keep system design, electronics, software, mechanical build and testing in-house, so nothing is lost in translation or gets delayed waiting on a third party.

Rapid prototyping lets us test your proposed solution early, so you know it works before committing to the time and cost of a full build.

We stay involved once your equipment is in service, so you get support and updates long after the initial build is complete.

Sectors we serve

We work across some of the most demanding engineering sectors, where testing has to be precise and reliable. Two decades of aerospace-rooted expertise gives every sector we serve the same rigour and attention to detail. Whatever your application, our engineers bring the same technical depth to every project.

Sarsen Technology is a supplier to Red Earth Systems. We have always found the Red Earth team to be expert in their field and an excellent company to work with.

Manufactured and tested, all under one roof

Our in-house manufacturing facility in the heart of Gloucestershire can handle everything from large test rig assembly to PCB population and modification. We can build ancillary items, too, including cable harnesses, breakout boxes and protocol converters, all to the same exacting standards, whatever the scale of your project.

We’re certified to ISO 9001:2015 and manufacture to IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620, so quality is built in at every stage, not checked for at the end. And we use industry-leading PCB design software for schematic and layout work, giving us full control over every stage of electronics design, before a single board goes into build.

It means your equipment leaves our facility ready to perform exactly as specified, backed by a standard of manufacturing you can trust.
